Burnham on Crouch Carnival Committee organises a week of activity culminating in an illuminated procession on the last Saturday in September each year which has grown into one of the best in Essex drawing thousands of visitors.

The Carnival Queen competition is held annually in June with two Princesses chosen to represent the two primary schools. The Carnival Queen starts her reign at Burnham on Crouch Carnival and then visits many other Carnivals in the area during the next 12 months.

The Carnival Committee arrange for a free programme to be prepared and delivered to the residents of the town.

Carnival day events take place in the High Street near to the Clock Tower from 10am to the start of the procession at 7.30pm.

Shops join in the fun by taking part in the shop window competition with classes for Novelty, Trade and Artistic displays.

There are a series of road closures on carnival day which affects traffic flow in the town. The High Street area is closed from 10am to 10pm. The Carnival Procession formation area of Silber Road, Western Road and Dunkirk Road is added from 4.30pm to 10pm and then whole Carnival Procession route is closed from 7.30pm until the procession ends at about 9.30pm.

On street parking is available in large areas of Burnham on Crouch with additional Car Parks provided to cater for visitors to the town.

Stevens Funfair at Burnham Country Park provides all the fun of the fair from Thursday to Sunday Evening with a fireworks display to bring Carnival Week to a close at dusk on Sunday evening.
